Peptide supplier comparison scorecard

Enter up to three suppliers you are considering and score each one against the same vetting criteria. The scorecard rates the suppliers you enter; it does not rate or recommend any supplier itself.

Scope. The scorecard rates only the suppliers you enter. It does not rate or recommend any supplier. Research use only context. Not legal advice.

Criteria, weights and what to check

The host post says to weight criteria by your own business needs but gives no numbers and no scoring scale. This tool therefore gives every criterion the same weight of 1 and uses a simple 0 to 3 scale. Both are the tool's own choice, not the post's. When a criterion does not apply to a supplier, such as import documentation for a supplier in your own country, the tool asks you to score it 3 so it does not lower that supplier's total; that rule is also the tool's own choice.

CriterionWhat to checkWeightMust pass
Clear research use only positioningRead the supplier's website terms, product descriptions and any certificate of analysis for a plain statement that products are for research purposes only.1Must pass
Certificate of analysis for each batchAsk for a certificate of analysis for each batch, with purity data, mass spectrometry data and residual solvents testing, and check that a qualified laboratory ran the tests.1Must pass

Batch and testing recordsAsk for evidence of batch records, synthesis reports and analytical testing documentation, and see whether they can produce them.1No

Support responsivenessSend a technical question about the product and see whether the answer is accurate, compliant and timely.1No
Signs of an established operationLook for years in business, a professional website and more than one contact method. These are hard to verify directly, so score them cautiously.1No

Scoring scale

  • 0 Not shown: The supplier refused, could not show it, or the evidence does not match the product.
  • 1 Weak: Partly shown, vague, or hard to confirm.
  • 2 Adequate: Shown and consistent with the product you would buy.
  • 3 Strong: Shown in writing, specific, and checked against the exact product.

The post lists three items every supplier should provide at minimum. This tool treats those three as must pass. The minimum score of 2 for a must pass item is the tool's own threshold, not the post's.

Worked example with three fictional suppliers

These three suppliers are made up for this example. The scores are invented to show the arithmetic and are not a finding about any real company.

  3. Example supplier B: total 24 of 33, fails a must pass item

A total can rank a supplier high even when it fails a must pass item, so read the status beside the total.
